One Down -----20 To Go

Today is the last day that I will have kids in the classroom......oh that's right, you didn't know that I was a teacher and a basketball coach. I must confess that there are days when I question the profession that I have chosen. You teach and teach and teach, and wonder if it makes even the smallest dent in their brains. Just when you think you are ready to quit you have a student come up to you and tell you that you made them enjoy learning again. Then it all becomes worthwhile.

I also coach basketball. I have been a JV basketball coach for the last four years, and I am really ready to try my hand at being the head coach. I truly enjoy coaching. It is the one time when I feel locked into my own little bouncy-ball universe, completely separated from the outside world. Passing, dribbling, cutting, screening, shooting, trying to outscheme another coach, searching for any chink the opponents armor that would give you an advantage....These are just some of the things that I love about basketball.

I became a teacher and a coach to impact the lives of young people. Hopefully, when I am gone from this earth it will be said of me that empowered his students and players to be the absoulute best that God intended for them to be
